LOTSA PICS BELOW
I put up some animated GIF's below too. They're kinda big...so please wait patiently for them to load.....it's worth it.
So you all know pretty much by now that I have a ........DEEEEP and almost DISGUSTING passion for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Its kinda ridiculous. It even gets to the point where my friends get tired of me because that is all that I would talk about.
From Shogun's freak accident at the hands of Mark Coleman, the flash knockout of Shamrock from Sakuraba, Gomi taking the PRIDE belt, Silva avenging Arona, "Kid" Yamamoto taking the K-1's HEROS belt, David Loiseau's defeat at the hands of Rich Franklin, GSP squeaking out a win agains BJ Penn, Liddell defeating Couture for the second time, and the list goes on and on.
Anyways, got nothing better to do, so I decided to put up some of our training pics. As some of you know, I (with the help of MANY others) have kinda started up a training group here at U of I. My friend even made a facebook club entitled:
"John Kang Center For Children Who Can't Fight Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too's"
AHahah, nice ring to it ya? Check out the group and join if ya like ^^
Anyways, im very proud of this group that im trying to get going. We have about 15 guys already, and its GREAT. We train regularly together, and through that we bond. Even though I'm one of the few guys in the group that actually had some type of training, we're ALL basically loser wannabees. Puhahahaha. Its kinda pathetic if you think about it. But who cares, we all do this because we LOVE MMA.
What I love about this group is that we have alot of the Martial Arts Experience covered. Take me for instance, I have the Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu experience. Iljeen has the Tae-Kwon-Do experience, Jae has the Western Boxing experience, Jason has the Judo experience, Ken has the Karate experience, and Doug has the wrestling experience. It's great! We all have extensive knowledge in each background, so we are able to exchange techniques and help each other out where the other lacks. Its beautiful.
....this....is TRUE MMA....where we utilize the BEST from each different Art....because no matter what red neck tells ya....no martial art is better than the other. It all depends on the practitioner him/herself. So we try to learn it all!
okay. Pictures. I put up some animated GIF's....and for some reason....they're kinda big files...so please give it some time to load.
here they are

This is Jae on the left, and me on the right. I would consider myself and Jae to be the "Stand up" giants of our group. Jae has great hands, from his boxing training. I have my Muay Thai training, so i have my legs and knees.

Me throwing some leather. Terrible form by the way....me that is. I could have been knocked out by Jae's right....his power hand. Can you tell me why?

Me vs. Dave Cho. This guy is a WRESTLING MONSTER....he's sooo freakin strong. I like to call him my "prodigy"...because this guy catches on QUICK........this guy is HARD to sub.....

Me teaching Iljeen a little about passing guard. This guy is also a FAST learner. Probably one of the more dedicated guys of our group. This guy is well rounded in both stand up AND the ground. Iljeen even took out a Goshin Jitsu ( a MMA club here at U of I ) guy by guillotine choke with only a few months of training under me. This guy makes me so proud.

Iljeen being a homosexual. Hahaha. I think alotta girls are gonna like this pic...cuz i'm not gonna lie.....he looks kinda adorable there. Kinda like a teddy bear that is ready to be bought off the shelf. MAkes me want to kick his butt. AHAHAHA

Me vs. Jason Rhee. Attemping to throw a high thai kick. Jason is a physical specimen...let me tell ya. This guy just might be even strong than DAve.....it's SICK. This is our judo guy....and like the others...this guy has a FAST learning curve....i see a bright future for this guy.

Me throwing a quick left jab at Jason.

Me giving JAson a thai front kick. Is it spelled "teep" ? I dunno how to spell it. To lazy to go look it up.

Me giving Jason my most strongest weapon, my right low thai kick. Many of the guys will tell you that my kicks are strong and hurt. I guess it comes from my extensive taekwondo and thai background.

...Dont know exactly what I'm doing here....maybe a thai roundhouse......but maybe a taekwondo side kick? ...yea....probably.....

Me throwing a Taekwondo spinning back kick. I am a strong believer in mixing up muay thai with taekwondo....i think the two make a deadly kicking combination.....

Countering Jason's kick with my right cross.
Okay, enough standup pics....here are some pics of me doing some groundwork with Jason. A classic "Judo vs. Jiu-Jitsu"
btw...i better not be getting any gay comments about these pics looking gay.....
ARMBAR ATTEMPT

Me trying to set up an armbar. Notice my left foot on Jason's hip to push my hips out and my right leg trying to clinch JAson in? An armbar is a very dangerous submission. To put it shortly and simply, I'm basically trying to control his arm from my back. From there, I will try to push my hips around to gain position then lock him in an Armbar. When armbarring someone....you are pretty much trying to break or pop his arm.

SECURED THE ARMBAR!!!!
TRIANGLE CHOKE ATTEMPT

Me trying to secure my triangle choke....which is one of my favorite submission techniques. A triangle choke is basically what it sounds like...its a type of choke. Triangle chokes are mostly applied from the bottom position, which is what I'm in. (However, triangles can be applied from other positions as well). Essentially, a Triangle is a choke using your legs and your opponents arm to block of circulation in the neck, which prevents oxygen from getting to the brain....thus resulting in a choke.

Continuing to secure the choke. notice my hand grabbing my foot?

SECURED THE TRIANGLE CHOKE!!!!
okay, here are the animated GIFs. These alll came from my sparring session with JAson, NOTE, we were only doing light spar, not really going "all out" ....enjoy ^^

Me throwing my favorite kick. I didn't go hard in this particular pic tho. Just a light spar. Maybe 40%?

Me countering Jasons low kick with high kick of my own.

Giving jason a thai front kick, and countering (and parrying ) jason's cross with my low right kick.

Throwing a Taekwondo sidekick. Like i said....i like to mix up my Thai with my TKD.

ME doing a spinning back kick. ......this kinda reminds me of David Loiseaus's fight against Mcarthy....except.....ALOT SLOWER AND LESS POWERFUL....lol
well thats it folks. Hope you enjoyed the pics and GIFS i made. until next time!
