Xanga is kinda depressing...and lame. And oh yeah, I'm graduating...

I've noticed that most people's xangas are sad.  Everyone on xanga is emo.  It seems like xanga is like...the new way to vent and channel all your bad energy.  It's always "my life sucks" or "why me?" or "school blows" or "my heart hurts" or a poetic passage or verse where you seem near-suicidal.  I'm not bashing on xanga users and their emo-ness, because to tell you the truth I do the same thing.  Hehehe

But I guess it makes sense. In this day and age where everything in life is fast and growing, it's sort of hard to catch up to it sometimes.  Its sort of like trying to get back on the saddle of race horse that's running away from you while everyone else is getting to the finish line.  It's just hard these days to find a good person or a good outlet to help channel these emotions and feelings.  Thats why we resort to xanga.

Honestly though.  What is that going to do?  What do we hope to accomplish by posting our thoughts on Xanga?

Is it a desperate cry for help?

A call for attention?

Are we hoping that someone will come valiantly to our rescue?

I don't know....I do it because I'm bored.  Hehehehehe.  Plus it's a way for me to keep track of my life and it's a way for me to share it with others.  Every human being on this planet has a story to tell.  This xanga is my own story for the world.

Annnnyways, so what's been on John Kang's mind these days you ask?

1. Graduation:  Oh my god.  I'm a senior, and I have less than 2 weeks before I graduate from college...forever.  Where the hell did all the time go?  It feels like I just started out here at U of I as a freshman a few weeks ago.  Gah!  Someone make me a freakin time machine!

2. After graduation:  Oh my god.  What am I going to do after graduation?  I've stuck it out with a pretty shitty major for the past four years...and I don't know what I'm going to do with it.  Should I find a job?  Travel? Soul-searching?  Fight?  Medical School?  Be a professional pirate or become a Korean drama star? Who knows what will be in store for me.

3. Friends:  Oh my god.  I've been so blessed with meeting so many great people here at school. There are going to be so many people I'm going to miss after graduation.  Why the hell does everyone have to be from the suburbs.  I feel so isolated from the rest of them because of that.  Will I see any of these people again?  Will they remember me?  And if they do, how will they remember me?

4. Summer:  Oh my god.  It's going to be summer.  What am I going to do?  Train?  Fight?  Cook? Teach English again?  Be lame and drink every night alone?  Look for grease summer lovin?  Chill with my pet rabbit and watch movies all day?  Alot of my friends from home won't be back for me this summer.... sigh

5. And...yeah, we're not even going to get into that -_-

So yes, thank you U of I for the time you gave me the past 4 years.  The good times, and the crappy ones.  You were both a blessing and a curse.

oh yeah!  I found these pictures that someone took awhile ago.  It's from a photoshoot that my friend asked me to take part of.  These were my favorites:

I forgot I had Xanga...

wow...it's been almost 2 years since I last used xanga.  it feels kinda weird coming back to it.  oh well, i don't think people are reading this anymore anyways. haha

It's interesting to see people over time.  I've changed so much over the past few years...hopefully for the better...we'll see what happens

lots have been happening to me since my last entry.  School, future, people, etc. there are alot of things on my mind.  so much to think about.

I wish I can stop disappointing....i really need to fix that....

First post of the summer: What I have been up to, and my plans for the rest of the summer

Hi hi everyone.  Welcome to my zzanga.....haha....

So it is now summer time.  I am back home for the summer after a very hard year at U of I.  This past sophomore year,  I learned alot about myself.  Went through alot of ups, and unfortunately, alot of downs as well.  But oh well, thats life for ya.  Not gonna complain about it like i used to.....I'm so whiny......enough is enough John....grow up you baby.

ah....nah.....this picture is better....cuz the baby is asian like me....and he looks delicious....hardy har har

hehe...cute....and yummy

...wow....he actually loooks kinda delicious.....imma need some tobassco sauce with that baby.  I just wanna nibble on his little fingers and cheeks.

keke

So now I'm 20.   I turned 20 this past May 14.  Let me tell ya....it's kinda weird being 20.  I mean....come on....I'm no longer a teenager....but not yet an adult.  Maybe this is that awkward stage in life.  Haha.  Not only that, but I am now an upperclassman.   SCARY.   That means that there will be younger people looking up to me.   SCARY.  Haha.

Anyways, on with what I have been up to this summer:

absolutely nothing

....well....I lied kind of.   I have been "trying" to keep myself busy.  This would involve playing video games,  laying around the house, reading some books, watching hours upon hours of X-man and Love Letter and Ssang Ssang Plus (all three are Korean TV shows).

Speaking of Xman and Love Letter,  I AM IN LOVE....with two very unlikely Korean celebrities:

I LOVE Park Jung Ah.  I dunno why.  I just love her.   haha.

So pretty right?   While everyone else is drooling over Chae Yun,  I'm admiring Park Jung ah's beauty, cheerfullness, and spunk ^^

I'm also in love with.......dun dun dun

Han Hyo Joo!

hahaa, I too admire her beauty and spunk.  I think she's sooo gosh darn cute.  I wish I could have a mini version of her so I can carry her around in my pocket.   Ahahahaha.

She looks so happy!  .....But I was very unsatisfied with this picture.  That guy really annoys me......thinking he can just go up and take a picture with my girl......

...well....i'll show him

PUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hehehee, it gets even better!

TEEE  HEEEEEE  HEEEEEE

Wow, that was fun.....that took a looong time to make.......

you see?  i have too much time this summer.

So, my plans for my summer?  I am going to take summer classes here at home.  Blah.   Thats going to be alot of fun......not.

I will also  be continuing my Muay Thai training here.  Since the guy that teaches submissions is gone....I guess I'll be working strictly on stand up this summer....which is kinda sad...because I was looking forward to improving my ground game.   Oh well....I always find ways to get around that though.

Also, I MIGHT be working with Korean students that are coming over to Illinois State University all the way from Korea.   But chances are.....my dad is going to be a grouch and he probably won't let me mingle with them this summer.  That would be GAY.  You see...every summer, a group of korean students from a university in korea comes to ISU as a part of an exchange program.  So i meet like...over 30 different korean college students every summer.  And every summer, it just keeps getting more better and more fun to hang out with these guys.   They are sooooo much different from the stuck up fobs back at U of I......those jerks.....at least....some of them....but some are really cool too.

So what do  I do with them?   I mostly just chill with them, help them with English, get them acquainted with living in the U.S.,  etc etc.    Basically, I just serve them......and to me....this is the greatest privelage.   I just love to help these students out.  It make me feel good to see them have  a good time here in America.

If my dad doesn't let me help them out.....I am seriously going to kill myself....because these kids are the ONLY things I look forward to every summer... Without them....it just wouldn't be the same.....

Anyways, enough of that.  so this is my first entry of the summer folks.  Hopefully I'll post more later and keep you guys updated with my life.....and possibly entertain you guys with more pictures?  puhahaha.

bye

Random Training Pictures

LOTSA PICS BELOW

I put up some animated GIF's below too.  They're kinda big...so please wait patiently for them to load.....it's worth it.

So you all know pretty much by now that I have a ........DEEEEP and almost DISGUSTING passion for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).   Its kinda ridiculous.  It even gets to the point where my friends get tired of me because that is all that I would talk about.

From Shogun's freak accident at the hands of Mark Coleman, the flash knockout of Shamrock from Sakuraba, Gomi taking the PRIDE belt, Silva avenging Arona, "Kid"  Yamamoto taking the K-1's HEROS belt, David Loiseau's defeat at the hands of Rich Franklin, GSP squeaking out a win agains BJ Penn, Liddell defeating Couture for the second time, and the list goes on and on.

Anyways, got nothing better to do, so I decided to put up some of our training pics.  As some of you know, I (with the help of MANY others) have kinda started up a training group here at U of I.  My friend even made a facebook club entitled:

"John Kang Center For Children Who Can't Fight Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too's"

AHahah, nice ring to it ya?   Check out the group and join if ya like ^^

Anyways, im very proud of this group that im trying to get going.  We have about 15 guys already, and its GREAT.  We train regularly together, and through that we bond.  Even though I'm one of the few guys in the group that actually had some type of training, we're ALL basically loser wannabees.  Puhahahaha.   Its kinda pathetic if you think about it.  But who cares, we all do this because we LOVE MMA.

What I love about this group is that we have alot of the Martial Arts Experience covered.  Take me for instance, I have the Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu experience.  Iljeen has the Tae-Kwon-Do experience,  Jae has the Western Boxing experience, Jason has the Judo experience, Ken has the Karate experience, and Doug has the wrestling experience.  It's great!  We all have extensive knowledge in each background, so we are able to exchange techniques and help each other out where the other lacks.  Its beautiful.

....this....is TRUE MMA....where we utilize the BEST from each different Art....because no matter what red neck tells ya....no martial art is better than the other.  It all depends on the practitioner him/herself.   So we try to learn it all!

okay.  Pictures.  I put up some animated GIF's....and for some reason....they're kinda big files...so please give it some time to load.

here they are

This is Jae on the left, and me on the right.  I would consider myself and Jae to be the "Stand up" giants of our group.  Jae has great hands, from his boxing training.  I have my Muay Thai training, so i have my legs and knees.

Me throwing some leather.  Terrible form by the way....me that is.  I could have been knocked out by Jae's right....his power hand.  Can you tell me why?

Me vs. Dave Cho.   This guy is a WRESTLING MONSTER....he's sooo freakin strong.  I like to call him my "prodigy"...because this guy catches on QUICK........this guy is HARD to sub.....

Me teaching Iljeen a little about passing guard.  This guy is also a FAST learner.  Probably one of the more dedicated guys of our group.  This guy is well rounded in both stand up AND the ground.  Iljeen even took out a Goshin Jitsu ( a MMA club here at U of I )  guy by guillotine choke with only a few months of training under me.  This guy makes me so proud.

Iljeen being a homosexual.   Hahaha.   I think alotta girls are gonna like this pic...cuz i'm not gonna lie.....he looks kinda adorable there.  Kinda like a teddy bear that is ready to be bought off the shelf.  MAkes me want to kick his butt.  AHAHAHA

Me vs. Jason Rhee.  Attemping to throw a high thai kick.   Jason is a physical specimen...let me tell ya.  This guy just might be even strong than DAve.....it's SICK.  This is our judo guy....and like the others...this guy has a FAST learning curve....i see a bright future for this guy.

Me throwing a quick left jab at Jason.

Me giving JAson a thai front kick.   Is it spelled "teep" ?  I dunno how to spell it.  To lazy to go look it up.

Me giving Jason my most strongest weapon, my right low thai kick.  Many of the guys will tell you that my kicks are strong and hurt.  I guess it comes from my extensive taekwondo and thai background.

...Dont know exactly what I'm doing here....maybe a thai roundhouse......but maybe a taekwondo side kick?  ...yea....probably.....

Me throwing a Taekwondo spinning back kick.   I am a strong believer in mixing up muay thai with taekwondo....i think the two make a deadly kicking combination.....

Countering Jason's kick with my right cross.

Okay, enough standup pics....here are some pics of me doing some groundwork with Jason.   A classic "Judo vs. Jiu-Jitsu"

btw...i better not be getting any gay comments about these pics looking gay.....

ARMBAR ATTEMPT

Me trying to set up an armbar.  Notice my left foot on Jason's hip to push my hips out and my right leg trying to clinch JAson in?    An armbar is a very dangerous submission.  To put it shortly and simply, I'm basically trying to control his arm from my back.  From there, I will try to push my hips around to gain position then lock him in an Armbar.  When armbarring someone....you are pretty much trying to break or pop his arm.

SECURED THE ARMBAR!!!!

TRIANGLE CHOKE ATTEMPT

Me trying to secure my triangle choke....which is one of my favorite submission techniques.    A triangle choke is basically what it sounds like...its a type of choke.  Triangle chokes are mostly applied from the bottom position, which is what I'm in.  (However, triangles can be applied from other positions as well).   Essentially, a Triangle is a choke using your legs and your opponents arm to block of circulation in the neck, which prevents oxygen from getting to the brain....thus resulting in a choke.

Continuing to secure the choke.  notice my hand grabbing my foot?

SECURED THE TRIANGLE CHOKE!!!!

okay, here are the animated GIFs.   These alll came from my sparring session with JAson, NOTE, we were only doing light spar, not really going "all out" ....enjoy ^^

Me throwing my favorite kick.   I didn't go hard in this particular pic tho.   Just a light spar.  Maybe 40%?

Me countering Jasons low kick with high kick of my own.

Giving jason a thai front kick, and countering (and parrying ) jason's cross with my low right kick.

Throwing a Taekwondo sidekick.   Like i said....i like to mix up my Thai with my TKD.

ME doing a spinning back kick.   ......this kinda reminds me of David Loiseaus's fight against Mcarthy....except.....ALOT SLOWER AND LESS POWERFUL....lol

well thats it folks.  Hope you enjoyed the pics and GIFS i made.   until next time!

The Many Faces of John Kang From Around The World

*edit*   I have added more interesting "John Kangs" ....and to any "John Kangs"  that have been shown on this entry....I mean no harm.  I'm just trying to be humorous....in a cheap/dry way....puhahaha*edit*

Hello everyone!!  Usually I don't update this xanga very often....but today is an EXCEPTION!

So I was really bored this morning after deciding to duck out early from my Organic Chemistry class at 8 am.   When I got back to my room, I started to think about a very intriguing question that I had never asked myself before....

....Are there any other "John Kangs" in this world?

I suddenly had this deep urge to find out.   So I decided to investigate on this VERY important matter......at least it was VERY important to ME.  Not knowing where to look first in finding my other....."selves"....I decided to start where any other stupid college student would go to when they find themselves in an academic pickle.....such as doing a research paper at 4 in the morning.

Upon accessing this site....I stopped for a moment in hesitation.  I had this overwhelming feeling of excitement....and a little fear....as I was about to embark on a mission to find other "John Kangs" of this world.  But I knew just a random web search wouldn't do, so I decided to be more specific.....

...."This is it"  I thought to myself.   "Soon I will see others who share the same boring name as mine....I hope none of these guys are porn stars...."   My fingers literally trembled...mostly in anticipation, as I slowly typed in each letter of my name...

"J"

"o"

"h"

"n"

"space bar key"

"K"

"a"

"n"

"g"

"Enter key"

....I waited....and waited....and waited for what seemed like an eternity....even though Google said it only took 0.12 seconds.

....and these were my results....

After reviewing my hits....I came to a conclusion that all these different "John Kangs" of the world.....are much like me......please read on my analyzations of each of these "John Kangs".

This guy's name is John Kang.  He does "Wing Chun Kung Fu"....apparantly a "Martial Artist"......much like me.  He's outta shape, probably plays video games most of the time, fantasizes about Jet Li and Jackie Chan, and is nerdy looking.   Much like me.

This guy's name is John Kang.   ...I don't know why I put him on here...he just reminds me of my dad......*shudders*

This kid's name is John Kang.   This kid just looks annoying....yet there seems to be some nice spunk in him.......I bet you his dad forced him to do soccer.....just like me.

This guy's name is John Kang.   He too looks very annoying.  He looks like one of those kids that were big losers in high school that could use a girlfriend.   Much like me.

This guy's name is John Kang.   ....I also don't know why I put this particular "John Kang" on here.....he just looks creepy looking....almost creepy, old, pedophile-like.....much like me.....

.....just kidding.....idiots.....^__^

This guy's name is John Kang.   To be honest....I think this guy resembles me PERFECTLY............when I try to study.   Puhahahaha.....what a loser.....much like me.

This guy's name is John Kang.   This "John Kang"  looks very patriotic......much like me.....except remove the American flag and replace it with the Korean Taegukgi.....and we're in business.   He too looks very nerdy with the glasses and all....just like me when I wear my glasses.   Hope this particular "John Kang"  isn't reading this....because he would probably just shoot me with his gun....

This guy's name is John Kang.   He went to U of I here toooo!!!!   He was a Lambda or something.  Isn't that WEIRD?!?!?!  There used to be another John Kang here on campus....darn it...I was hoping I would be the only one....

and the BEST for last......trust me on this one

PUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even need to explain myself on this one.   This kid is pure "John Kang" material.  I give him my official seal of approval!!!!  AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!

Meeting this kid would be like meeting myself from the past!!!!!!  BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..... SICK!!!!

AHHH MAN....*sniff*.....now THAT is some GOOOOOD stuff ^^....hehe....teeeheee....*sniff*....yeah....that's was GREAT.

In conclusion:

So now my pointless mission has come to an end.  And I have indeed found the answer to my very interesting question that plagued my mind this morning when I walked out of my Chemistry class early.....

"Yes....there are other guys named John Kang that are losers like me."

In a way....I felt MUCH better about myself....and I have this sudden boost of confidence....especially after realizing the fact that I'm not the only loser in the world.  But this isn't my main point about this .....unique xanga entry.

My point is this:   I hope to all you people here at U of I....to all you people from back home....and everyone else that knows me personally.....I really hope that I will be the coolest "John Kang"  (  If not the only "John Kang" )  that you will ever know.   To me....that would be a great honor.

...please bestow this honor upon me.

- John J. Kang
